Stairwell Projects
Pocopson is fortunate to have a variety of spaces that can be developed to provide unique learning environments. We have four areas near our stairs that are large enough to create multipurpose areas. One area has been developed into a large group meeting area called the Whispering Woods. This is exactly the type of area that I envision for each stairwell. These locations offer the ability to serve all students in the school and offer exciting learning areas that support different types of instructional activities. Some instructional functions I see being served are large group instruction, an area for small group dynamics, an area for display of student work and projects and an area for quiet reflective independent activities or an additional computer lab. These areas are close to classrooms and allow quick and easy access. It is my goal that each area be different and are based on a theme that makes them interesting and fun to visit. It is also a goal that each area be accessible to all grades and to serve many functions.

Some of the coming projects include the Patriot Cup Cafe and the Pocopson Galleries, Both are under construction. Click on the link to see progress. We are also hoping to add a reading lounge/book sharing area.

The final two phases of the outdoor classroom will be a small amphitheater at the back end of the classroom and a vegetable garden where different grade levels can interact, learn about plant life while building a greater sense of community at our school.
