The
Outdoor Classroom
The goal of the outdoor classroom is to create an
additional learning environment to facilitate classroom
instruction. Although the outdoor classroom lends its self
to science and environmental instruction, it is also a
great place for students to go for writing projects as well
as cooperative learning projects. Eventually, seating will
be built into the hill using simple benches and the
pavilion will serve as a stage creating a small
amphitheatre. As an amphitheatre, it can be used for class
presentations and for speakers to address a large group of
students. This multiuse facility can serve many purposes
instructionally as well as provide a place for children to
escape the sun during recess.

The
Outdoor Classroom Garden
The another phase of the outdoor classroom is the garden
and it is now underway. The garden will not only add beauty
to the outdoor classroom, but it will also support our
science curriculum. The garden will include a pond, a
rotting log community, flowers that will attract
butterflies and birds. It will also provide ample
inspiration for writing assignments. You can click on the
link to see the progress of the project.
