Cafeteria Schedule
12/20/08 11:38 AM
As you
know, we have been running a pilot on a new time
schedule in the cafeteria. The initial feedback is
mixed, but most of it is positive. I do not think any
schedule will make everyone happy. In January, I will
meet with a group of stakeholders and see if we
cannot address some of the concerns and keep the
positives we like about the schedule. Some of the
positives and negatives are listed below. Although it
is important to consider positives and negatives,
some advantages may outweigh all of the negatives. I
look forward to your feedback.
Positives
It allows all students to have more time to eat their lunch. Every student in the new schedule gets at least thirty minutes.
It compacts the lunch schedule, No student has to eat before 11:20 and lunches are over earlier.
It provides more uninterrupted Language arts time in some grades.
The behavior of the children, although never out of control, has improved.
Clean-up between lunches has improved significantly.
Negatives
It does not allow for as much recess time. Most grades have five minutes less recess time.
The cafeteria is louder.
Some academic schedules will need to be realigned.
Parents cannot eat lunch wit their children
